Water hearers and boilers may be old stuff, like hot water, according to Il Corriere della Sera in the long interview on Ariston Thermo’s new challenges, “but here more than anywhere else maybe the old economy is now the new frontier”.
During the interview, Paolo Merloni pointed out that “everyone knows we need to reduce pollution and Co2 emissions and save energy at the same time,” as envisaged in the objectives set by the European Union and summed up in the 20-20-20 formula now familiar to all sectors of industry.
“The problem though shouldn’t be associated exclusively with cars or industrial chimneys. In Europe, the heating of homes, offices and shops accounts for 30% of the European Union’s energy requirement”.
“The frontier for our sector isn’t only renewable energy sources: the real challenge is energy efficiency,” stressed the Group’s CEO. “As Ariston Thermo we invest a fair portion of our resources, 4-5% of sales every year, on our objective of raising our green products to 80% of our total sales”.
In highlighting these objectives, Paolo Merloni also spoke of the company’s development: “the industry is moving towards consolidation and we intend to defend our leadership and grow. We can do this organically and, should the occasion arise, we would also be comfortable about making an acquisition”.
Plain speaking this that shows a desire to improve and develop Ariston Thermo Group in the field of energy efficiency and saving.
